We have a history of excellent adventures with our friends Dave and Davina. We see so little of one another that we like to make the times we do get together extra special and have a grand day out. Some of my personal favourites have been our day trips to the Isle of Wight, Llandudno, Portsmouth and Blackpool. This weekend when they came to stay, we decided to go to Liverpool for the day. To add to the fun, we made the most of my friends and family railcard, and went on the train, which we thoroughly enjoyed and really must do more often. Our first stop was the Albert Dock and the Beatles Story, which was much improved since our last visit there many moons ago. Gemma and Anni were pleased as punch to be inside the Yellow Submarine.
Afterwards the girls were itching to explore the shopping heaven that is Liverpool One. No longer the woodland parks and children's play areas for us. Nathan was just happy to be sporting his newly purchased John Lennon specs.
Our kids have known one another all their lives and it is lovely to see them growing up together. I love hearing our girls giggling into the wee small hours together. There are few things more satisfying than seeing the children of your friends being friends themselves.
The picture above was taken of Tom, Gemma, Anni and Sarah-Beth in 2000 when we celebrated our best New Year ever at Owl's Hoot in Saundersfoot. Ah, how sweet they were! Long live friendship.
