When the YP went to Narnia!

Yes, this was the experience that was YP Camp 2008. We wondered if we'd accidentally stepped through the wardrobe and entered Narnia! The first snowflakes fell as we arrived and at times the snowfall was pretty heavy, probably at its heaviest around the time of the outdoor activities. Consequently canoeing was cancelled. It was so incredibly cold that on out first night, Peter went to bed fully dressed and I wore a nightdress, pyjamas and a jumper underneath my two duvets and still couldn't feel my face. I woke up resembling Rudolph-the-red-nosed-reindeer. I began to relate to the couple who lived in Yukon territory and described their -40 degree winters in a log cabin. Only on the last night did we have the brains to ask for an extra heater. What a difference, we were positively toasty last night.

The YP were much hardier than us and Osama Bin Horton still managed to walk around in customary t-shirt most of the time. If we were going to have bad weather, this was the best kind to have. Easter snow! How amazing!
Mountain biking in the snow was an experience not to be missed (I love my job of taking photographs, it gets me out of all sorts of painful physical activity!) Here are Nomi, Lucy and Emily raft building in the snow.

Of course, the main reason we go on Camp is to study the Bible and we had some really good studies and prayer times together, looking at Matthew 8. I love the times I have around the Bible with my group of girls and watching them grow as women of God.

We had a great time, in spite of a few Vomiting Veronicas, one of whom was my own little cherub, who spectacularly threw up from top bunk and pebble dashed much of her floor and everything in its wake at 3am this morning. Poor lamb! That was fun to be woken up to. More to follow eventually, but I'm saving the rest of the photos for the slide show at the next Friday night YP...
