A day in the city

A break from routine is always a welcome thing. Today I had the pleasure of a day in the best of cities ~ Manchester. I took the train, which is always a treat. A whole hour to sit, think and watch the world go by. Then at the next station, on hopped Guy Valet, so I even had company for the journey as far as Stockport. A friendly face in a sea of strangers!
When he got off there was a surreal period of time when I was reading, "Stepping Heavenward" and the bloke opposite me was reading "The God Delusion."
The conference I attended was excellent. Firstly, because it was my annual catch up with an old friend and secondly because of the inspirational speaker~ an impressive Scouser with a knighthood. He was quite moving as he reminded some crusty old teachers why we had become teachers in the first place.
I even got on a bus for the first time in years and years. That was fun.
